Graham Scott reports great return to snow

NCOST Alumni and Quebec Ski Team member Graham Scott is currently training down south in Chile with the rest of the Quebec Ski Team.  Graham is returning to snow after going through a long recovery process from a torn ACL suffered last January in Bromont, Quebec.  Things seem to be going well for Graham with his return to snow: " Everything is going great here. We've skied three days so far and the knee feels great. We skied on our slalom skis for the first 2 days and then today we switched over to the GS skis. My skiing itself is quite good and i haven't felt my knee all that much while training."

Graham also has this to say about his equipment: " Both pairs feel awesome. The boots are the same as last year, also good." Graham who skis on Volkl skis and Technica boots, had his skis prepared by former World Cup Tech Graham Lonetto at Edgewise in Vermont.  Our main sponsor Tommy & Lefebvre, unfortunately lost the Montana machine in the fire so we are having to go elsewhere for Grinds.  There is a reason why we drive to Edgewise, the ski prep is done with absolute precision and the educated hands of 15 years on the World Cup.  Not to mention getting the same grinds that have won Norams and World Cups.

Graham is doing a shorter camp to avoid straining his still rehabilitating knee. He will be returning to Chile in late September for a longer more intense camp focused more on Speed training and race simulation.  As for now, Graham is reporting great accommodations and food in El Colorado, a nice change! " The accommodations are exceptional. We're  walking distance from the lift and lodge and have lots of space for all our equipment. Plus we always have hot water for showers which is a nice change from past years. There is also a new cook this year so the food is amazing. We have a nice 4 course meal every dinner."

Look for more news this week from Graham Scott as well as NCOST Alumni Mathieu Fournier, also training in Chile with the Quebec Ski Team.

Mathieu Fournier back into drills in Chile:

So everything is going great here, the airplane trip was kind of long but that was to be expected. The boots feel great, PJ did a sick job on them they didn't hurt once even when I was riding the T-Bar all day. They took time to do the basics this year, the boys told me last year they were doing timing on the third day because of the qualifications for the team. I did sliding turns on slalom skis for the most part of the first two days, then moved on the GS skis for the next couple, mostly doing bungee drills. On the fifth day we did a slalom course with stubbies and for the day off we played a game of soccer with Estrie in the snow. Today we were back on slalom skis in a course, sometimes with the bungee, sometimes with hands on the hips. The snow was hard packed for the first days because of a winter-like weather but today was more like spring skiing. The only issue with the nice weather is that the gates don't hold and they're announcing a big storm for friday. Overall everything is going well, the place is nice, at the bottom of the hill and we have crickets as roommates. The food was good because we were the only team eating at the lodge, but now UVM and Middleburry arrived so we get the stuff from the lunch.

See you soon.

Mathieu
